November 2017 Message from Vincent E. Isom, Director of IU 21st Century Scholars Program
Greetings Scholars! We recognize you as aspiring professionals and the future of the state of Indiana. You all have the ability and are working hard toward obtaining your dream career, even if you haven’t yet discovered what that is to be. I want to take this time to let you know that our office regularly thinks about each and every one of you. We celebrate your academic success, reach out when we notice academic difficulty, cheer your personal triumphs, provide programming to enhance your experience, and are ready to support you when any issue may arise. What is the message that I am sending out this week? The message is that you are not alone. We will continue to support you through your unique college experience at IUB. If you want to share your victories, share your struggles, or just simply want a familiar place to be around others, please come to our IU 21st Century Scholars office and/or attend our upcoming events. We are here for you! Be confident! Be bold! Continue to blaze your trail, which may include highs and lows, but remember: there is never a dead-end—only alternative routes. IU 21st Century Scholars Program: HIRING PART-TIME STUDENT HOURLY EMPLOYEE
The IU 21st Century Scholars Program is currently hiring eligible "work-study" scholars to apply for our part-time Student Hourly Employee position in the IU 21st Century Scholars Program. The Student Hourly Employee will be responsible for answering telephones, assisting with the process of scanning documents, and publicizing program events on-campus. The pay is $10.15 hourly. You must be available to work for at least "15 hours" per week during the Spring 2018 semester. *To apply, please send your resume and Spring 2018 class schedule to iub21cs@indiana.edu. "Trip to Washington D.C. Career Trek - PARTIAL Funding AVAILABLE!"
*ATTENTION IU COLLEGE OF ARTS & SCIENCES MAJORS*: What are your plans for spring break? Are you looking for a fun professional development opportunity? The IU Walter Center for Career Achievement invites all IU College of Arts & Sciences scholars to participate in the "Trip to Washington D.C. Career Trek - Spring Break" on March 11-14, 2018. To be eligible for program funding you must attend an info session and sign up for the trip by December 6th. Clearly state you are 21st Century Scholar in your application. It is vital that you also our academic advisor Karen M. Franks for more information about receiving a "PARTIAL funding" at kmfranks@indiana.edu. Transportation is not included. IU 21st Century Scholars Program: "2018-2019 FAFSA Application is now LIVE"
The 2018-2019 FAFSA Application is now LIVE. The IU 21st Century Scholars Program highly encourages all scholars to submit their online FAFSA application ASAP for special consideration of scholarship opportunities. Please note that your online FAFSA application must be submitted by April 15, 2018. All scholars must file a FAFSA. This is REQUIRED. Late applications will NOT be accepted. Failure to not complete the FAFSA on time may result in the loss of your scholarship. Questions about the FAFSA application can be sent to our retention specialist Duncan M. The IU African American Arts Institute (AAAI) cordially invites all 21st Century Scholars to attend the annual "Potpourri of the Arts" at 8:00PM-10:00PM in the IU Auditorium.
