Why Join IU 21st Century Scholars Volunteer Corps
“I have always been incredibly passionate about volunteer work and once I arrived to Indiana University Bloomington I was hoping to continue volunteering and giving back to my community. I was beyond excited to find out that the IU 21st Century Scholars Program was also offering opportunities to volunteer through the IU 21st Century Volunteer Corps. I had the extraordinary opportunity to become president of the organization and it has overall been an incredibly rewarding experience. Not only have I had the opportunity to give back to IU but I also had the opportunity to volunteer in numerous events across the Bloomington community including the Bloomington AIDS Walk and Jill Behrman 5K. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as a member of IU 21st Century Volunteer Corps and I highly recommend it for anyone who has a passion for giving back and working with others.”
How 21st Century Has Helped You Succeed
“The IU 21st Century Scholars Program has provided me with several resources and opportunities throughout my college career such as networking events, academic resources, and volunteer opportunities. The IU 21st Century Scholars Program has also encouraged me to be successful during my time at IU and to work with other scholars through Volunteer Corps to overall make the world a better place. I am beyond grateful for the resources and opportunities provided that have helped me lead a successful college career.”
Future Goals after IU
“In the summer of 2017, I will begin to pursue my Masters of Science (M.S.) in Biotechnology at Indiana University Bloomington. With both the degrees I will earn at IU, I hope to further my career in the sciences at a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company where I hope to continue research on antibiotic resistance. In addition, I hope to begin a fulfilling career where I not only utilize the skills I have learned in the sciences but also the skills I have learned from being a part of the IU 21st Century Scholars Program.”
