How 21st Century Has Helped You Succeed
"The IU 21st Century Scholars Program has provided me with the tools and resources needed to succeed at Indiana University Bloomington. Throughout my four years at IU Bloomington, I had the opportunity to engage in various academic and professional events that allowed to increase my social network across the University. One of most memorable experience at IU was completing a study abroad program in Ghana, Africa during the Summer 2016 semester. Specifically, through the support of the IU 21st Century Scholars Covenant Summer Study Abroad Grants offered by the IU OVPDEI Overseas Studies & Scholarship Program, I was able to acquire new knowledge and understanding of the African American and African Diaspora experience in Ghana utilizing interdisciplinary interpretation through analytical reasoning and philosophical discussions.
I also had the opportunity to volunteer and teach several classes to underprivileged, underserved communities in rural Ghana, where I organized several reading and writing workshops for about 30 charming and bright children between the age 5 and 8. The opportunity to travel overseas was perhaps the best part of my student experience, and cannot be more thankful to the IU 21st Century Scholars Office for enriching my undergraduate experience these past four years. Thank you IU 21st Century Scholars Office for FULFILLING the PROMISE to support my dreams of a college education at Indiana University."
