Who are you assigned to work with for your EARN Indiana internship and what kind of projects or responsibilities are a part of your role?
I’m assigned to the 21st Century Scholars Program. I’m also a 21st Century Scholar and have worked with them in the past, so I’m excited to explore some different things with them. A lot of what I’ll be doing with the program centers on either social media, like the TikTok page or the newsletter, and connecting with current 21st Century students, doing interviews or going to different program events. I love meeting my peers, so this is super exciting! Look out for my contribution in the monthly newsletter! (If you'd like to be added to our Scholars newsletter email Rebecca Brahaum)
What are you most looking forward to in your internship?
I always enjoy speaking with my peers, getting information on how we can improve on events and resources to better benefit students throughout their journey here at IU. That will probably be my favorite part of the internship, but also I think it’ll be pretty fun just to make content for Tiktoks as I’m usually just a social media consumer, not a producer.
What other things have you been involved in here at IU?
Throughout my time here I’ve done a couple of different things. I used to be
involved with the lecture committee of the Union Board. I (very) briefly worked
for RPS Dining. I’ve been working for Office of the VP for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in a couple different programs, 21st Century Scholars, Faculty & Staff for Student Excellence Mentoring Program and Community & School Partnerships. I’ve interned for the Department of English and for Indiana Review. Most excitedly, I got to travel abroad to Italy through an ASPIRE Program!
What have you enjoyed most about your IU experience?
This is a bit cliche, but honestly the people I’ve meet here have been my favorite
part. Some of the people in my friend group are people I met during my freshman
year and maintained my relationship with throughout college. The people in my
classes are kind and open, making for a great learning environment. I think my IU
experience wouldn’t be half as great as it has been without the people I’ve met
along the way.
Any post grad plans?
I have a job at a marketing consultancy company in downtown Indianapolis after
graduation. I’m super excited to making this big step from college life into
adulthood!
What’s your favorite Bloomington restaurant and your go-to order?
This is a super difficult question honestly. It is probably a tie between Siam House
and Little Tibet. At Siam House, I usually go for the chicken noodle soup (which
is basically ramen). At Little Tibet, I get the yellow curry with chicken. I highly
recommend both places!
