How Has the IU 21st Century Scholars Program Benefited You?: “The IU 21st Century Scholars Program has allowed me to not only attend and complete a four-year bachelor's degree at Indiana University Bloomington, but have also allowed me to excel in my current profession as both an educator and an environmentalist. With the support of the Indiana 21st Century Scholarship, I had the opportunity to engage in numerous projects and activities at IU Bloomington and the City of Bloomington all while keeping my coursework a priority.”
How Has the Summer 2017 Internship through IU Office of Sustainability Enhanced Your Academic and Career Success?: “The IU Office of Sustainability is an ideal opportunity to apply civic and global skills into the profession all while making a signficant impact on the IU community - a daunting, yet exciting challenge!"
Alumni Advice to Current Scholars Interested in Sustainability Work at IU: ”Definitely try to get involved with one of the many on-campus student volunteering organizations! But most importantly, living a sustainable life yourself and staying informed will help you succeed in life. The more you incorporate sustainable living into your own life, the easier it will be to practice and to work on sustainable projects on a larger scale. And who knows, that may help you find something you are truly passionate about! For instance, living a zero-waste lifestyle may be difficult, but practicing it yourself will give you the experience you need to help and encourage others to reduce, reuse, and recycle in their own lives.”
Future Career Goals: “As of right now, my career goals are as cliche as they come - I want to work for an organization (public or private) that is dedicated to sustainability and sustainable projects/models with the goal that I can make a difference.”
