Philip A. Seabrook
Philip A. Seabrook was Assistant Vice President for College Readiness & Retention Initiatives between 2008 and 2017 in the Office of the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (OVPDEI) at Indiana University Bloomington. Prior to his role, Philip served as Assistant Dean of University College between 1998 and 2008 at Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis (IUPUI), Founding Director of Support Programs between 1990 and 1998 for the Indiana 21st Century Scholars Program at IUPUI, and Executive Director of the Upward Bound Program between 1977 and 1989 at Indiana University. In 1981-1982, Philip was appointed and named President of the Indiana Mid-America Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel (I-MAEOPP), a chapter of the Educational Opportunity Association (EOA). Philip has nearly four decades of experience developing and implementing pre-collegiate programs designed to increase college access and success among first-generation, low-income students in collaboration with the Indiana CHE, Indiana Commission on the Social Status of Black Males (ICSSBM), INvestED Indiana, Complete College America (CCA), and Starfish Initiative. In addition, Philip has secured several major gifts from the Lilly Endowment and Lumina Foundation to support and launch the 21st Century Scholars Program at Indiana University. Philip holds a B.A. degree in political science from Central State University and is a proud native of Dayton, OH.
