Lisa Huffman
Lisa Huffman is the Special Projects Coordinator and Newsletter Editor for the IU 21st Century Scholars Program at Indiana University Bloomington. Lisa comes to us with real life local experience, not only as a first generation college student herself growing up on a farm here in southern Indiana, but most of all as the proud parent of three 21st Century Scholars (IU'12, IU'16, Purdue'22) and an additional son who has many special talents as well as needs. She comes to us with a great desire to give back to the 21st Century Scholars Program.
Lisa's career path was not straight--It consisted of many unexpected twists and turns along the way which eventually led to her to move back to Bloomington after being away for 12 years (a real "Bloomerang") to start a career here at IU in 2015. As Lisa can testify, when you first start your career path many of your first jobs are not always your first choices but they are essential experiences to get you where you need to be!
Lisa has a passion for languages and cultures, having lived and studied broad as a Rotary scholar. She also taught French and English online as well as spent time teaching French as a graduate student at Purdue where she received her Master's in French and Education. She still holds her own speaking French and is available to tutor 21st Century Scholars. (You can contact her at iub21cs@iu.edu for help!) In her free time Lisa enjoys fitness, especially running and all types of cycling and can give you lots of ideas on where to ride your bike in southern Indiana.
Lisa is always looking for input from students for our newsletter and social media channels. Students, you are the voice of the 21st Century Scholar's program and she would love to hear from you! Email Lisa at iub21cs@iu.edu
